Mekkojen vuosi ei olisi täydellinen ilman uutta Eve-mekkoa. Otin kaavan nyt toista kertaa esille. Kangasvarastoissani oli viime keväästä saakka vuoroaan odottanut kaunis Libertyn puuvillakangas. Kesti melkein vuoden päättää mitä tästä ihanasta kankaasta ompelisin. Lopulta päätös oli kuitenkin selvä.

Eve-mekko on siitä mukava ommeltava, ettei siihen kuulu vetoketjua eikä napinläpiä. Koska olin jo kertaalleen ommellut mekon tällä kaavalla, en joutunut tekemään kaavaan lainkaan muokkauksia.

Ohutta puuvillaa on mukava ommella. Se käyttäytyy moitteettomasti sekä ommeltaessa että silitettäessä. Lisäksi se laskeutuu hyvin, joten kangasvalinta toimii hyvin tämän mekon hihoissa ja helmassa.

Tein Eve-mekosta tällä kertaa tasahelmaisen version. Toinen vaihtoehto olisi ollut tehdä helmasta takaa pidempi. Se onkin mielestäni kaunis yksityiskohta ensimmäisessä Eve-mekossani, jonka ompelin krepistä. Puuvillakankaasta ommeltuna Eve on itselleni enemmän arkimekko, joten sen vuoksi päätin tehdä helmasta tasaisen – hieman arkisemman.

My Year of Dresses would not be complete without a new Eve dress. This was the second time I made a dress with this pattern. Since last spring, my fabric stash has stored this beautiful Liberty cotton lawn. It took me almost one year to decide what to sew with it. However, in the end, I think the decision was quite clear.

Eve dress is a nice sewing project. Not least because it includes no zipper of buttonholes. Since I had already last year used this pattern, I didn’t need to make any alterations.

This light weight cotton fabric was a dream to sew. It behaved nicely both while sewing and pressing. It has also a lovely drape, which makes it perfect for Eve dress’ sleeves and skirt.

This time I made the version with an even hem. Another option would have been a hem that is longer in the back. That is a lovely detail that I used in my first eve dress. That one I made from crepe. But when sewn with cotton, Eve is more of an everyday dress for me. Therefore I wanted to make also the skirt hem a bit more everyday appropriate.
