Tämän vuoden Sew Together for Summer -haasteen teemana on kietaisumekot. Mikäli tämä ihana kesäinen ompeluhaaste ei vielä ole tuttu, suosittelen etsimään inspiraatiota vaikkapa Instagramista hashtagilla #sewtogetherforsummer.

Suosikkini kietaisumekkokaavoista on Sew Over It:n Eve-mekko. Muistattekin varmaan ruusuisen Eve-mekon, jonka ompelin aikaisemmin tänä vuonna. Tällä kertaa päätin muunnella kaavaa lisäämällä siihen pitkät hihat. Suomen kesät ovat sen verran arvaamattomia, että pitkät hihat tulevat usein tarpeeseen. Nappasin hihat Sew Over It:n Pussy bow blouse -kaavasta, ja ne sopivat mielestäni mekkoon täydellisesti.

Kankaaksi valitsin kauniisti laskeutuvan pehmeän viskoosin. Tilasin tämän hyvälaatuisen kankaan Englannista enkä pettynyt. Kangasta oli kiva ommella ja valmis mekko on mukava päällä. Itse asiassa huomasin tämän pitkähihaisen mekon sopivan kankaasta johtuen myös aurinkoisiin päiviin. Yllättävää kyllä tämä viskoosimekko on mukavan viileä suojaten hyvin auringolta.

Koska koristenauhavarastoni alkaa olla jo melko täynnä, päätin kaivaa sieltä kaunista valkoista pitsinauhaa, jota oli vielä hieman jäljellä. Lisäsin tätä koristenauhaa mekon etuosan saumakohtiin tuomaan mekkoon hieman lisää persoonallisuutta.

Tässä mekossa kaikki on juuri minun tyyliäni. Kangas, väri ja malli… Tykkään näistä kaikista. Lisäksi tämä mekko täytti kesän ompelulistassani olleen kohdan pitkähihaisesta kesämekosta.

This year’s Sew Together for Summer challenge is all about wrap dresses. If you haven’t heard about this lovely summer challenge already, I recommend you to find some inspiration from Instagram using hashtag #sewtogetherforsummer.

My favorite wrap dress pattern is Sew Over It Eve dress. You might remember my rosy Eve dress that I sew earlier this year. This time I decided to hack the pattern by adding long sleeves. Our summers here in Finland are somewhat unpredictable when it comes to weather. Therefore long sleeved summer dresses are more than great. I took the sleeves from Sew Over It Pussy bow blouse. I think they complete this dress perfectly.

I chose to make my new wrap dress of rayon with beautiful drape. I ordered the fabric from England and I have to say that the quality is very good. It was nice to sew and the dress is lovely to wear. As a matter of fact, I noticed that this dress is good also for those more sunny and warm days. The fabric makes it surprisingly nice to wear and it protects well from the sun.

Since my ribbon stash is beginning to be quite filled with pretty ribbons, I decided to find this pretty white lace ribbon that I remembered I had a little bit left. I used it to decorate the bodice and bring a little bit more personality to my dress.

Everything about this dress is exactly my style. Fabric, color, style… I love all of these. In addition, this dress checked the ”summer dress with long sleeves” box from my summer sewing list.
