Mekkojen vuosi tähän saakka / Year of Dresses so far

Tammikuussa kerroin tämän vuoden olevan itselleni mekkojen vuosi. Nyt kun vuoden ensimmäinen puolikas on takana, on aika pysähtyä hetkeksi katsomaan kuinka mekkojen vuosi on tähän saakka kulunut.

Puolen vuoden aikana olen ommellut neljätoista mekkoa. Keskimäärin mekkoja on siis valmistunut hieman yli kaksi kuukautta kohden. Määrä tuntuu valtavalta ja siltikin ompelulistassani on vaikka kuinka monta mekkounelmaa, joita en ole vielä ehtinyt toteuttaa.

Tavoitteeni mukaisesti olen kokeillut erilaisia ja uusia mekkokaavoja. Sew Over It:n Eve-mekko on ainoa, joka on päässyt ompelupöydälleni kahdesti kuluneen puolen vuoden aikana. Näistäkin toisessa versiossa muokkasin hihoja niin että mekon ilme muuttui paljon.

Olen onnistunut ompelemaan myös kiitettävän eri tyylisiä mekkoja ja kokeilemaan erilaisia materiaaleja.

Ovatko taitoni kehittyneet matkan varrella? Sanoisin, että mekkoprojektit ovat olleet sopivassa suhteessa haastavia. Uusien kaavojen kokeilu on aina piristävää ja taidot kehittyvät kuin huomaamatta mitä enemmän ompelee.

Suosikkia näiden neljäntoista mekon joukosta minun on mahdotonta valita. Jokainen mekko on omalla tavallaan ihana.

Mitä sitten tapahtuu seuraavan puolen vuoden aikana? Jatkan onnellisena teemavuottani. Kuten sanottu, ompelulistassani on monta ihanaa kaavaa, joita haluaisin kokeilla. Otan myös edelleen mielelläni vastaan kaavasuosituksia. Niitä voi jättää vaikka kommentilla tai lähettää sähköpostilla.

In January I told that this year will be my Year of Dresses. Now that the first half of the year has passed, it is time to stop and take a look at the year so far.

During these six months I have sewn fourteen dresses. This means that on average I have sewn little over two dresses per month. It sounds like a lot but my sewing list is still filled with many dress dreams that I haven’t yet had time to make come true.

As my goal was, I have tried different and new dress patterns. Sew Over It Eve dress is the only pattern that has been on my sewing table twice during these six months. And the second time I did alter the sleeves so that these two dresses look very different from each other.

I have managed to sew dresses that are of different styles and I have also used different materials.

Have my dress making skills developed during these months? I would say that these dress projects have been challenging in just the right way. It is always fun to try new patterns and the more one sews the more development one can see.

It is impossible to say which one of these fourteen dresses would be my favorite. Each of them is lovely in its own way.

So what will happen during the next six months? I will continue my happy theme year. As said, my sewing list includes many lovely patterns that I would love to give a try to.
